Yesteryear Collection

In 1910, Crossley Brothers Ltd. changed its name to Crossley Motors Ltd., as if the company realizes that it was on the verge of its defining moment. Already known for its petrol engines, light commercial trucks and passenger cars, Crossley introduced its Royal Flying Corps tender in 1912. The performance of these Crossley vehicles in the Royal Flying Corps - particularly during World War I when they were used as ambulances and light trucks - brought the Crossley name considerable fame. Indeed, after the war, the British Royal family was extremely fond of a Crossley 4-litre 20/30 hp passenger car that had served the war effort well. The dependable Crossleys were converted from military use into every type of truck imaginable. The company continued to make automobiles until 1937 and larger vehicles until 1956. Its vehicles served admirably again in World War II. After the war, the firm concentrated on multi-passenger vehicles such as busses and trolley cars. Now a vintage 1918 Crossley delivery truck is spruced up and at work again, delivering a load of potted plants and flowers. This precision-engineered replica is crafted in the 1:47 scale and its load of potted plants and flowers is hand painted in exacting detail. This Matchbox Exclusives edition replica is produced by - and available only from - Matchbox Collectibles, the greatest name in die-cast.
